two thousand and nineteen

not gna lie, i l o v e d  2019. :)

no more dramas, lots of travelling to new (and old) places, new experiences, better results and independence and I give thanks to God for all of these blessings. I enjoyed my year thoroughly and I only hope for the new decade to be as wonderful or if not, fantastic. I also know that there will be ups and downs but I will pull through.

If I had only one resolution for 2020, it would be to spend more quality time with my parents bc as I am stepping into adulthood, they are getting older each year and it s c a r e s me. My only wish is for them to be healthy and happy and nothing else will be more important than that. Of course, I wrote down all of my 2020 resolutions and I really hope to achieve them. We'll check back at the end of 2020 to see :)

Happy New Year everybody! Far or near, have a good one! πŸ’—

BANGKOK BABY

Merry Christmas Eve everybody ☺ Started off the day really well and I can't wait for tonight and tmr! ANYWAY J and I just returned from our BKK trip which both of us were really looking forward to. 5D4N passed really quickly, I guess time flies really quickly when you are having fun :( But YES we had loads of shopping, eating and we enjoyed ourselves :') I'm gna miss travelling so much bc I won't be able to travel till next year end but that's ok I guess more time to save up for all the planned places!

I am quite lazy to go into the deets of what/where we ate/went so I'll just highlight some for memories sake haha.

Us about to board!

It was already close to 6pm after we settled down in the hotel so we decided to just roam nearby places our hotel.. searched on google for nice restaurants and Kosita caught my attention as it has many good reviews and it wasn't too expensive. We walked for quite a bit in the dark and just when we were about to give up, we saw it! It was apparently a house and the restaurant was just beside the house. Nevertheless, the ambience was really good, it had Bali vibes apparently.. but we were the only ones there HAHAH

Seafood Pad Thai

Chicken Green Curry

Tom Yum Goong

Basil Pork - this had a really unique taste, not something we would get back in sg. πŸ‘It is spicy too! I approve hahahah

Overall Kosita was worth the visit. I think not many people will find this place as it is quite ulu but we had one of the best dinners in bkk! Such a shame that we didn't have time to go back.

Day 2 - We started off our day getting some street food for breakfast and spent most of our day shopping πŸ›

We headed for big dog cafe in the evening! The entrance fee + gst (without any drink) was 240B iirc. Ok personally I find it quite expensive but if you think about the maintenance for the dogs, it is ok lah.

One of the nicest pic I took! Cute doggo posed really nicely hehe

The dog that looks like a walking mop HAHAH

J carried Casper!

Chow Chow might be my favourite breed SO CUTE I love!!!!

Day 3 - J's Birthday πŸ’–

Moo Krob Nai Sai for brunch. They are known for their roasted pork which J loves so we put it in our itinerary to try!

They serve many type of soups as well!

We initially ordered a large portion of meat to share among 4 of us bc we didn't know how huge the portion is but it turned out to be so mini that we had to order another large portion of meat haha. But it was 120B/portion so no complains. I loved the radish soup and pig skin though really unhealthy but am not a fan of the meat :( J liked the meat tho! We then left for Chatuchak which we spent a few hours before going back to rest for abit.

Best Beef for dinner! It is like mookata buffet and there were a HUGE crowd when we arrived but it was still pretty early so we didn't have to wait.

All 4 of us ate so much we were SO FULL bc they also had free flow ice cream!

happy tummy happy us 😊

Day 4 - more eating and shopping πŸ˜‹

Roast @ theCOMMONS

J's coffee - name which I forgot

Couldn't resist their french onion soup even though it was really quite expensive. It was amazing, very nicely cooked/baked?? $16 worth!!

The Breakfast.

Truffle Alfredo - I major love!!! The portion was also just nice, not too much bc it can get jelak.

All in all we spent about $32 each - most expensive meal in bkk!!!! But I would say it is worth the visit bc the food was outstanding! Not your normal cafe food ok!!! Would totally come back again!

On our last night, we also went for a more well-reviewed massage at Healthland Asoke. My friends have told me about it before and just nice, our friends on the trip with us also said that it was good so we decided to spend a bit more on massage!

Usually I'd go for aromatherapy massage bc I prefer oil massage but I settled for Thai massage bc I didn't have enough to spend HAHAHHA it was a difference of 400B and I wanted to use that money to buy more food back. So we paid 600B for 120mins Thai massage and I think the service + quality + ambience really did worth 600B and if you breakdown the calculations, it is only like 100B difference from the normal massage shops (assuming 250B for 60mins) Therefore I would say if you are looking for a good quality massage, just go straight to healthland!

Ok so that's about the end of our short trip! There were more places we went but I am lazy hahhaah. Thank you J, for being such a sweet travel buddy, for always taking care of me first (when I can take care of myself) HAHAH right now, let's work hard towards our 2021 dream trip and cheers to many more trips to come! πŸ’œ

Thank you skies, for awing us with your beauty once again. See you in Nov 2020 :)

J's 23rd

It's December! Which means its J's birthday month! We will be away on his actual birthday so I decided to come up with an advance birthday surprise with his close friends and family because I know how important they are to him ◡̈ Sooo I suggested that we go on a fancy date on Saturday (also bc I needa get J out of the house while his parents and friends prepare for the surprise)

Always wanted to try Atlas Coffeehouse bc it's highly raved so we arrived at about 1pm and waited for about 15 mins! I tried to get a reservation but it was fully booked. They serve mainly brunch and some "heavier" dishes for lunch. Price ranges from about $16-$25! J chose stew chicken from their lunch menu while I went for standard french toast which came with fresh strawberries and maple. And of course their coffee, me being not so coffee person, went with hot mocha and a latte for J!

Looks good and it taste really good on first bite! However the inside of the toast was a tad too soft for my liking and while I was eating I was imagining the amount of sugar this portion contains LOL so in the end I gave half to J HAHA (it's always the case, unless I really really love the food I'm having) gotta say that their mocha was really gud tho

Their stew chicken was more for my liking! The gravy was flavourful, sourdough wasn't the super sour kind and the chicken cooked just nice! $18.50 worth πŸ‘

HOWEVER I don't think I'd recommend this place :( bc with 50 bucks i think i can get much much nicer and satisfying food. Quite overrated!!!!

Hehe here's one with J ♡ The reason why we seem far apart is bc we were trying to get the right angle for the lighting HAHA

By the time we finished lunch, it was like 2.30pm so we headed to Marina Square to hunt for J's present haha. We were done shopping at like close to 5pm and my plan was to leave wherever we were for J's house at about 5.30pm since his friends were gna reach at 6pm BUT they were late so I HAD TO STALL TIME which was really difficult bc both of us were super duper tired by then and we just wanted to head home to "get dinner and netflix and chill" LOL

In the end we got Koi and after we finished it at about 6.15pm, we went home (from dhoby to punggol) luckily all of his friends were ready by then! The mini party was a success!

J's parents got Christmas-y food HAHAH like turkey, pork knuckle, ham, smoked duck and pizza. I ordered a salted caramel batman cake from Lele for J bc he major loves batman!

Some pictures from last night x

Thank you all for helping me out with this mini surprise (even tho he kinda knew bc SOMEONE accidentally spilled some beans πŸ˜’) and especially J's parents for being so supportive of my idea since day 1 haha. Thank you everyone who were there for the effort and sincerity!  I'm sure J enjoyed and appreciated all of your presence bc all of you are very important people to him πŸ’›

Y3S1

GUESS WHO ENDED Y3S1 me duh hahahahah

IT WAS A TOUGH SEM but that's what I say every sem hahahah ok but to be fair, it's not the worst sem for me (or so I think so I hope my results don't prove me otherwise....)

My lack of update was really because I wasn't doing anything else apart from studying. Quite sad I know but I had to pause my life for finals and I really don't know if all the hard work will bring me a better life in the future... I guess it increases the chances of me living a more comfortable life so πŸ˜…

Had our usual celebratory meal after Pharmaco finals today and it was steamboat at lemin's! πŸ˜‹We bought so much food that we didn't finish like 40% of them :( Also tried to play 50 rounds of bridge which we failed.. terribly HAHAH we will make it happen one day!!!!!

Thanks everyone, for yet another semester in school πŸ’–

Last weekend mongxlovet part I was launched and tbh there was a few pieces I was eyeing.. I even wanted to get a dress in 2 patterns (floral and black) bc I couldn't decide which one to get BUT wth 7.02pm (launch was 7pm), the colour I wanted was already SOLD OUT in my size???? So I settled for white and skipped the floral bc it was quite pricey too. Initially was unsure if I'd like white as much as I loved the black one..

Ahhhh but it turned out really really nice :')

Can't wait for all the activities during this short 6 week break!!! Now I just wanna lie on my bed and do absolutely nothing hehe

Saturday 9 November 2019

The calm before the storm

I had such a fun week after so many boring ones πŸ˜‚Finished my last 2 mid-terms on Tuesday and off we went for BITP at westgate bc they were having an opening promotion for ladies hehe

Ordered sooooo much food and as we have 5 girls, we got a 50% discount! "If not now, when???" I quote lemin πŸ˜†They were also very kind to give us a cake bc we told them it was Jessie's birthday and the cake was quite nice too! But tbh almost every table was celebrating someone's birthday bc they don't check if it's true they just give the cake HAHA after we ate we went to macs to play BRIDGE until like 10+ before heading home heee

Wednesday
Made it for Bianca's flow class in the morning and had PK in the afternoon and then I met Adrena for dinner! It has been so long since we last met and we had so much to catch up on about our lives.
So happy to have met you in BOS and here's to our friendship that will last very very very long!!!! πŸ’•

Tragic (or not) Thursday
Planned to meet J for dinner after our classes and we initially wanted to go try Eat 3 Bowls after watching Eatbook's review. Took the mrt to Lavender and after walking for like 10 mins we found the place BUT IT WAS CLOSED on. the. freaking. day. that we decide to go 😞Both of us were DEVASTATED and it was already quite late sooooo we settled for fish head steamboat just opposite Eat 3 Bowls and it was yummy la hehe.
I vaguely rmb going to that place with my parents last time and it was nice so I suggested that πŸ˜›We also planned for desserts after dinner but we were too full so we walked to Bugis and ended up at Yakun drinking coffee πŸ˜‚

FRIYAY
My cousin and her boyfriend came over from Malaysia! and since the BITP promo was still on, my parents and I decided to have that for dinner! Here's a long story:
Since it was friday and based on Tuesday's experience I thought that there would be many many more people queueing for it so I decided to go to westgate early (at about 4pm) to take a look at the queue and maybe start queueing first. When I reached at 4pm, the queue was relatively queueable LOL but stupid me (ideky) DIDN'T QUEUE instead I went to walk around, DRINK BBT somemore, thinking that I will come back near 5pm since we only wanted to eat at 7pm (like wth??? what was I even thinking????)

When I went back to BITP at 5pm... the queue was tragically TOO LONG like it was from the entrance TO THE ENTRANCE and the person came and say that they are stopping people from queuing. So technically I was queueing FOR NOTHING. I started panicking HAHAH bc it was 5pm and I had to call my mom and my cousin and my other cousins and J to ask them what to do sigh pie.
But hehe we ended up getting a private room at BITP @ Star Vista but sadly no 50%. Nonetheless everyone enjoyed the food and company so no complains. $200 to buy time and convenience worth?? all for my stupidity HAHHA

Saturday!!!
Not many pictures but we went to Jewel for Shake Shack and then maybe today is my lucky day bc for the first time ever when I'm in Jewel, RICH AND GOOD CAKE WAS NOT SOLD OUT so I quickly bought 1 kaya and 1 red velvet hehe. Also!! Virgin try at Birds of Paradise!!
Dark Chocolate Sorbet + Pistachio. Love the bitter dark chocolate yums.

11/11 sales everywhere we couldn't resist and broke a bit of our pockets today πŸ˜›Koh's Grill for dinner and went along Orchard road for some very early xmas lights πŸŽ„

Time flies when you are having fun now it's back to the books which I haven't really touched (as you can tell) and I am freaking out for finals bc I realised how MUCH I have to study and I really don't have time :( and J is sick :( Missed him a lil more tonight but he's sleeping already bc my poor boy is not feeling well. Get well soon!!!! πŸ’›

ok thx for reading i'm going to sleep!!!

Saturday 2 November 2019

Haven't updated this space in quite a while but that's really because I have nothing in particular to talk about and I'll be bored if I were to keep talking about school school and school 😒My other friends are already preparing for finals but poor girl here still has 2 mid terms next week and I can foresee myself freaking out so badly for finals this sem because the amount of content is no joke.... ok maybe I say that every sem πŸ˜‚

BUT ANYWAY, J and I went for Shi Li Fang on friday night bc we are such hotpot fans and we can't afford BITP all the time so we decided to give SLF a try since we haven't been there before. Sadly they didn't have the 9.90 set meal so we settle for their 2 pax set meal which included beef, pork, chicken, fish, 2 servings of vegetables + mushrooms and 2 servings of noodles and MAN I was exploding. There was so much food we could barely finish!! We chose their chicken soup and mala as our soup bases and I would say we both enjoyed the chicken one more πŸ˜€
He loves his beancurd skin so we also ordered one portion of which he ate 90% HAHA we paid $48 in total and I cannot complain about their quality given the price.

We then decided to get ccsc bc we are horrible people but to justify ourselves, we try to only drink bbt when we both meet (like we would share one) so that the damage will be lower HAHAHAH but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way 😏

Letting Go

I have no idea how to describe how I feel now but I will try:

I always study, or at least I try to study, as much as I can or I need for a test or exam. Today not did I only fail my xx hours of studying I  have also failed myself. Idk what I was thinking during the test and idk why I wrote all the wrong answers when I clearly know the correct ones. It could have been the anxiety, the situation I was in and maybe the lack of time but I know I have zero excuse. It's so nerve wrecking because I know that I know my shit but I still went ahead to write all the rubbish I can't even say how disappointed I am with myself???

But as much as I am upset with myself, what's done is done and I should stop crying over spilt milk. I was whining the entire night, over dinner and even in the movies with J (we caught Maleficent bc we had nothing to do when we finished dinner at 7pm HAHA) It was good tho!! I did feel better after the movie but I can't let go the fact that I did so badly for today's paper, which brings me to a question: can we really let go?

What does letting go even suppose to mean? Tell yourself that it's ok to do badly this time and to work harder for finals, forgiving someone who hurt you or erasing that part of your life you wish didn't exist. I guess anything that allows you to be at peace, to be happy, doesn't matter whether you actually forgive/forget/erase - is reasonable.

Then again, it is difficult to let things go especially if it is something important. But is it more difficult to keep harping over it?? IDK maybe some people want hold that part of them so closely because it was/is so significant. Or perhaps it was a regret, which is a barrier now for one to live freely.

Well then maybe the first step to continue living is to let yourself go.

Writing this as i’m on my way home from date night with J ❤️
We went for Ippudo’s 1-for-1! Actually we reached mandarin gallery at about 6pm but we weren’t hungry yet so we decided to walk one round before queuing (there was no q yet) but when we walked one round and back, the q was starting! But luckily we only queued for 10 mins?? 😏 We don’t usually eat Ippudo bc it’s pretty pricey but this promotion is so worth it!! Added takoyaki for $3 but both of us didn’t feel that it’s good :( Paid $29 in total cheap thrills HAHA

Had a 4 hour break in between lectures today so my friends and I decided to go to Amoy for the Han Kee’s fish soup! I rmb having it occasionally while I was working last time but it always has a snaking queue :( even when we reached at 1030am today there was already a queue πŸ˜… but we started queuing at um 1115, waited for about 40 mins before getting our food! $5.50 bowl of goodness 🐠

my precious. sometimes i feel like i really like you alot but other times i’m like omg i wanna kill you!!!! but i guess that is how it is supposed to be in a rs πŸ€ͺ thank you for being there during my downs and i hope i will have many happy things to share with you πŸ’“

Finally friday tmr! Time to continue chasing exams :’) Week 9 and I am so drained already but I need to. keep. going.

1st

Ever since I left Dayre, I have been looking for a space to write, mostly about my mundane life hahah but if you are here, HEY i probably know you (or not) i hope you will find a little joy in what i write :-)
Celebrated Jaime’s 21st over the weekend and I am really appreciative and happy when I get to be tgt with my friends, away from school πŸ˜› Took a break from chasing CAs but now i’m back to chasing tests after tests. But that means the semester will end in no time!!!
Also finally caught Joker with J ❤️ Such a sad, depressing movie which captures a real problem in our society. As much as I feel disturbed after watching it, I think it is because it hits me right in my face that the problem exists.
